Playden Nursery employs four play workers and an administrator, all of whom are registered with the Care Commission.

Manager Maureen Allan (far right) has a degree in Nursing and Psychology, as well as being Montessori trained and having 'twenty-something' years of experience.

Assistant Manager Jena McLean (2nd from left) has an HNC in Childcare and Education. She has attended training on Child Protection and ICT in Early Education.

Play worker Margaret Mackie (2nd from right) has an SVQ level 2 in childcare and early education and has attended the Foundation Course for Early Years.

Part-time play worker Karen Hall (far left) joined the team in August 2004 and has an HNC in Childcare and Education.

Part-time administrator Frances Mackenzie (centre) is responsible for all accounting and administration procedures.

In addition we have a French Teacher and a Gym Instructor visit us each for one session a week

All staff and students are vetted by Disclosure Scotland to ensure the children's safety, and play staff are additionally required to provide references, and be personally interviewed before being offered employment.


There is a good working relationship with North Highland College and the nursery regular receives an intake of two Child Care students at a time, and help in their training programs.

The responsibility for the management of the nursery and in particular the hiring of staff, is that of the voluntary Business committee, made up of parent members of the group.
